I took the plane from Oakland to Vienna at 6 am, Tues. morning. I sat by a Dr. who is an ex-Vet and travels to Iraq to give people fake legs who have lost their legs. He didn't have his but had some replacements. He reminded me of a Blue-eyed, Russian Robert Dinero. The kind of guy that can give you one look and you know you just don't want to mess with him and you'd rather have him on your side. It's funny, as I got on the plane I realized after spending a lot of time jumping form plane to plane I was developing some b.o. I hoped that the poor guy next to me wouldn't have to suffer through a 9 hour flight with me. Then Robert sits by me wreaking of cigarettes. Nice!
Vienna -
I am so jet-lagged and determined to stay up when neccessary to get myself on the right sleep schedule. I am sitting at the bar in the hostel I am staying at telling the German bar tender that I was not very impressed with my first day in Vienna. I told her what I saw and she then told me where I needed to go. I am so jet-lagged I not only feel drunk but hammered.
Next day: Vienna stole my heart. It brought me to tears. Fortunately I had the Sound of Music soundtrack on my Ipod and it fit the moment perfectly! The stunning architecture is omnipresent. I didn't expect it to be so overwhelming.
The grocery stores have fresh squeezed orange juice machines... love it!!
